For the love of humanity, someone needs to set a political time limit. Please!
It's 1 thing for those who are interested in running for Michigan Governor in 2010 to be announcing and looking for early support. We are nearly half way through 2009 and to me, that's not too early. Obviously, the MediaMachine won't barrage us with it until next spring, so that's OK.
But, yesterday, watching a MediaMachine channel, they said there was already a early gathering and feeling out process for the 2012 Presidential race. They said that some Republicans were gonna hold a early caucus kind of event to see where people stand on potential candidates for 2012. You have got to be kidding me! In this case, it is only 2009. We are 3 and a half years away from Election '12. That's a long time for a lot of things to happen. Why are we even thinking about 2012? Why?
The 2008 Election went on waaayyyyyyyy too long! When did it start, 2006? That was ridiculous! By about March 0f 2008, a lot of people were just sick and tired of it all. Sure, people voted and did all that, but a lot of people were tired and already had their mind's made up. Everything from that point on was just paegentry. It was pure stupidity!
The MediaMachine made it unbearable. The coverage was just overkill!! That didn't help.
I propose a time limit on all future campaigns. You announce at the end of April of the election year. There is a national day of primaries and caucus' the 1st Saturday in June. Then it's just relax mode until the conventions in August. Then the race is on! Then, and only then, can it get crazy. It's all done in 6 months flat!! So much better I'd say.
I really do not want to hear about 2012 yet. But, the MediaMachine, and the die-hards that run it all, may ram it down our throats anyway. That stinks!!
