What To Do?

Wanna hear something crazy? In about a year, I will be free to do anything I want to. That is make the changes that need to be made to our lives. AKA possibly goin somewhere different. And, that is what makes things strange.

The big thing is where would we go? Where would be the place where I can get the job that my degree will allow me to get and take full advantage of it? Where can I find happiness? What all in my life needs to be fulfilled to make it awesome? And, how do I deal with the future things that may be of interest?

There is Up North. By that I mean Yooperland. Marquette, Escanaba, somewhere like that. It is still Michigan of course so there's a potential strike right there because of our economy. But, it does offer a difference without being a radical change.

I'd think the same thing would go with Wisconsin too.

Then there's Idaho or Wyoming. Yes, the Rockies do have an appeal. Mountains. Yes, it's a ways away from Michigan, but still, I think it would be a great experience in a place where the economy is a lot better. Wyoming has a disadvantage to me because of their hunting rules, but I do need to figure out just how much that means to me at this point. More on that later. Now, Idaho does have the what I call the "SuperLicense". Residents can get a tag for a deer and an elk every year. Every year!! That is awesome to me! So Idaho does have some appeal at this point.

And, finally, there is the Big One, the Last Frontier, the Great Land - Alaska. That would be the ultimate! Could I handle the main one, Fairbanks? Well, there is cold, snow, cold, wind, cold, ice, cold, and unbelieveable beauty. That place is intense!! Or, Anchorage. Sure it's a city, but it's more temperate weather wise. Yes, there is hunting possibilities there. But, maybe not. Anyway, there is something so very appealing about that place. Is it the ability to chuck off more of the crap put on us by the standards of the Lower 48? The ability to be who you want and how you want to be? The quietness of the place. It is sprawling you know. I just think it would be awesome to be there and live there and wake up in the middle of one of the last great, wild places on Earth.

Or, will nothing change? Will it be here or back to the Thumb? I don't know about the Thumb because I just don't see things being too different there anytime soon. I think the only way that would work is if I commuted to Port Huron and lived north of there. Yep, like Dad did. Then there is this area. Can't quite say yet on that one. I mean it is nice and all, located relativily close to the North and all of it's coolness, but it is rough. And, economically, very, very, very rough.

So who knows? I guess the next year will tell.
