Revolution Calling

Back in the late 80's, the rock band Queensryche created an album called "Operation Mindcrime". It was a concept album dealing with an attempted uprising against a government, in the album's case, the U.S.. On this album was a song called "Revolution Calling". It was the song that told the story of how the main character came to arms to fight the oppressor. Why do I bring this up right now? Whenever I see any footage of what is happening in Iran right now, I just think of that song. Because what is happening right now could be a revolution.

Ever since the re-election of President Mahmoud Admendinijed, or as I call him Imanutjob, there has been real civil unrest in the streets across Iran. Protests, led by students and other educated people, have been happening almost every day since. Thousands and thousands of people have turned out to protest what they call an election screw job. It has been amazing to watch. That is, how much of it we have been able to see. The Iranian leaders have tried to suppress the news leaving Iran. Thankfully, that hasn't worked out too well! We have seen lots of pictures of rioting and protests lately. The Iranian people are doing real well at sneaking this out. Good for them!

Anyway, we in the West can only hope that this turns to full blown revolution. Maybe the young people can turn the tide. Maybe the peaceful, intelligent people can turn things around. Maybe the millitary will see the writing on the wall, as they did in other revolutions like the one in Romania, and join the people in overthrowing the leadership. Maybe we can have a peaceful Iran. Maybe we can have an Iran that is a part of the world, and not some freak country out in the middle of the desert. Maybe!

But, the revolution has to be done first! Hopefully, the Iranian people will step up and do it! For the Iranian people I say, Viva La Revolution!!!!!!
